Building, Re-qualifying and Innovating Public-Private Partnerships through Linguistic and Communicative Skills

It will do so by fostering sustainable collaboration between public authorities, training institutions, and businesses in Italy, France, and Iceland. 

 

the context

BRICK is a policy experimentation project funded by the Erasmus+ programme

It aims to develop policy experimentation and practice tools to empowers adults from vulnerable groups by enhancing their job-related skills through functional language training, LfW – Language for Work, an initiative of the European Centre for Modern Languages of the Council of Europe (https://languageforwork.ecml.at/).

  • Reskilling for workplace quality and safety
  • Upskilling for the digital and green transitions
  • It will do so by fostering sustainable collaboration between public authorities, training institutions, and businesses in Italy, France, and Iceland.

From March 2025 to February 2027

the approach

BRICK follows a structured methodology based on five key phases

  • Co-creation of methods, practices, tools and training materials 
  • Piloting stronger skills for all
  • Monitoring and prototyping 
  • Creating sustainability through vertical, intra-sectoral and intersectoral upscaling  

These phases are supported by a comprehensive communication and dissemination strategy to ensure wide visibility and uptake of results across Europe

BRICK is designed to

Strengthen public-private partnerships at all governance levels—local to transnational.

Equip stakeholders with tools and training to integrate Language for Work into workforce development strategies.

Pilot innovative models for job-specific skill development through language learning

Create and share practical tools and policy recommendations to support vulnerable workers in reskilling and upskilling.

Expected Impact

BRICK is set to spark transformative change in terms of the governance and training approach  

The project will

Turn insights into action by shaping a practical Toolkit for trainers, a Policy Brief, and two Videos presenting the BRICK mode

Sharing outcomes and lessons learned through targeted upscaling events (WP6), including

  • Governance roundtables 
  • Sector-specific workshops
  • Intersectoral transfer events 

    Engaging wider audiences through an ongoing awareness campaign, a Webinar, and a Final Conference

     

        the partners

        BRICK is built on a robust transnational partnership across three countries, which brings together private organisations, each of them with experience of delivering training and LfW courses in different contexts,and public entities which will provide the platform and connections for a wide- reaching impact of the project.

        The Consortium comprehends 16 components, of which 9 partners and 7 associate partners from Italy, France and Iceland.

        All associated partners are public entities. 

        In Italy, partners are located between the provinces of Milano (ISMU ETS) the project coordinator, Bergamo (SEB, CPTA, AFP, ABF,RUAH), and Cremona (SEC), in the Lombardy Region. They will all collaborate with the Italian Ministry for Labour and Social Policies (MLPS), ANCE Lombardia, Cremona CPIA and Mestieri Lombardia as associated partners.
